Concrete Preparation

Before coating is applied, concrete must be:

  • Dry – No wet areas
  • Clean – Contaminants removed
  • Profiled – Surface etched

Mechanical preparation is the preferred method of preparing concrete for coating application. Shot-blasting and diamond grinding are acceptable methods. Use a crack chaser with a diamond blade to prepare joints and cracks prior to installation of UPC 555 Rapid Pit Grout.

Mixing Instructions

The ratio of Rapid Pit Grout is 1 to 1. (To 1 Part C job site Concrete Powder if needed) That is, one part A (Isocyanate) to one part B (Polyol). Then if needed mix 1 part C (Concrete Powder) Generally 16 ounces of Rapid Pit Grout is ideal for application. Mix the following with a drill and mixing paddle. Note: If using a drill mixer, use a low speed (not to exceed 300 rpm) to prevent air entrapment.

  1. Using a Volumetric Mixing Container, pour 8 oz. of Part A into small mixing vessel.
  2. Next, measure out 8 oz. of Part B and combine with Part A in mixing pail.
  3. Mix the combined Parts for 30 seconds, (If needed, based on below powder mixing instructions)
  4. Add 8oz of clean job site Concrete powder
  5. Mix for additional 30 seconds or until a uniform mix is achieved.

The material is now ready to apply. Due to the product’s extremely short pot life, prior to mixing have area to be grouted prepped and ready to receive material.

Powder Mixing

Concrete powder directly from the job site can be added by following the below-recommended ratios.

No Powder is to be added for low viscosity material. Perfect for small pinholes and other small concrete floor imperfections.

1A:1B:1C (Part C meaning clean direct from job site Concrete Powder)

If 8 oz. Part A and 8 oz. Part B is mixed, 8 oz. of Part C can be mixed in to achieve Medium body desired material.

UPC 555 is perfect for a combination of small holes and a few medium/large pits, divots and holes.

Application Instructions

Note before applying: Rapid Pit Grout should be applied after the first or second metal bond grinds and before 80-100 Metal bonds diamonds. We don’t recommend using resins to cut Rapid Pit Grout.
It is advised that you start by working on your knees as it gives you a better balance and makes the job easier.

  1. Take the hand trowels and swipe them over the concrete pulling the material so that it lays out more smoothly over the flat surface.
  2. Repeat the motion, moving left to right, until the concrete is covered evenly with the material slowly working back as you go.
Another option is to use flat stand up hard rubber squeegee making sure to pull the material tight across the concrete floor.
  3. Repeat the motion, moving left to right then back, adding more mixed material as needed.

Clean-up

UPC 555, while in a un-reactive state, may be cleaned up with water and degreaser. Acetone may be needed once the resin begins hardening.

Large Crack and Hole Application Instructions

Grind both sides of the crack and remove any loose unsound concrete.

Larger cracks or holes may go all the way through the slab and allow material to run under the slab. If this is the case you may want to pre-fill the bottom of the crack or hole with clean dry sand to seal the bottom of the crack.

The first application of UPC 555 Rapid Pit Grout should bind the sand and seal the bottom of the crack or hole. The second application may be required to finish filling the crack or hole.

Add UPC 555 Rapid Pit Grout to the crack or hole, then sprinkling sand into the material works well to add body and help fill the void.

You may slightly overfill the crack or hole and grind it flush once cured, to produce a perfectly smooth/flush patch.

Product Limitations

UPC 555 Rapid Pit Grout will experience a moisture reaction on damp or wet surfaces; the area to have material applied should be dry and clean. (Refer to Concrete Prep)

Depending on concrete floor surface conditions, more than one coat of UPC 555 may be needed to achieve desired finish.
